Discover what Music For Canberra offers when they open their doors to the community.
This open day is an opportunity to meet Music for Canberra’s friendly and professional teachers and ask questions about their programs, as well as participate in workshops and performances.
All sessions are open to all levels, from those who have never played to those who have lots of musical experience. Some sessions however do require that you bring an instrument with you, so if you have an instrument at home and you want to give it a go, please join in.
10AM • MUSIC PLAY (AGES 18 MONTHS – 5 YEARS)
See what Music Play is all about at this session combining singing, dancing, actions and percussion instruments. Children will have fun whilst learning pitch & rhythm and get to experience what our music classes involve.
11AM • HAND-DRUMS, DRUM-KIT & PERCUSSION
Try drums and other percussion instruments as Michelle and Hayden lead this drumming workshop.
Instruments provided or BYO percussion/hand-drums
12PM • WOODWIND: FLUTE, RECORDER, SAXOPHONE, CLARINET, OBOE
Led by Barbara, Josh and Dave join us to workshop and perform The River.
BYO wind instruments in the key of C, B♭, E♭
1PM • STRUMMED STRINGS: GUITAR & UKULELE
Mary, Patrick and Dylan will lead you to perform traditional songs including Skip to My Lou.
2PM • BOWED STRINGS: VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO & DOUBLE BASS
Play with our string students of all levels; workshop and performance of Stephen Chin’s Rainbow.
3PM • SING-A-LONG SESSION
Join with choristers from our children’s choirs and senior’s choir, Seasoned Voices, for this final session of the day, for students of all levels to enjoy.
