Kimmo Vennonen serves a diverse base of clients in the arts, specialising in sound design and CD mastering.
From the late 1980s Kimmo has been involved in 3D sound recording and mixing. He now provides a lifelike, immersive recording approach that is future proof and affordable. His unique 3D approach was recently used to record all CIMF 2015 shows in the Fitters’ Workshop. Since 1991 he has worked for most of Canberra’s new dance and theatre companies. In 2010 he won the MEAA Green Room Award for Creative and innovative sound design.
Kimmo feels a special responsibility to the local and national artists who have trusted him with their mastering needs since 1996. Built on early years of broadcast experience, he is keenly aware of his role as the final quality control. The Gorman Arts Centre facility is a finely tuned space to enable careful and critical work.
As a fully fledged production studio it is ideal for mixing and editing, mostly in Pro Tools HD, and can easily record high quality voice-overs or dialogue. Kimmo also offers restoration services to extract specific qualities from an old or damaged audio file. Often the content is valuable or private, needing care and attention at all stages.
Whatever the project, Kimmo looks forward to much more collaboration and exploration in music and arts and strives to keep his creative ground fertile. He is deeply committed to his professional practice and works to ensure that every activity is open, sustainable and energising for all involved.
