From finding the right play to analysing the script, developing your staging concepts to auditioning, rehearsal structure to working with actors and your creative team, this two-term course is designed to give both the novice and inexperienced director insight to every aspect of theatre directing, taking a play from the script to the stage.
Working with a renown director of the professional, independent and community theatre scenes, Term One will focus on the theory of each stage of a director’s process. This will be followed by Term Two (taking place Term 1 of 2018) where students will be invited to participate in the practical elements of staging a play culminating in a showcase in April 2018. Students will also be recommended and placed as Assistant Directors and Directors for Canberra’s top theatre companies.
The class is scheduled to best avoid potential rehearsals and performances.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a yearly course commencing Term 4 of each year. Students are required to complete Term 1 of the course in order to progress to Term 2.
