With an emphasis on new and original music, Confluence creates possibilities for striking compositions, exciting collaborations and sonic delicacies as curators Shoeb Ahmad (hellosQuare) and Thomas Fell (Jazz at The Loft) break down the boundaries between jazz, contemporary classical, electronic and improvised music to showcase young talents, established artists and the new school in Australian and international art music once a month in the intimate settings of Ainslie Arts Centre.

As part of the Confluence music series, Cracked Actor will be launching their new EP Duo, with Happy Axe as support.

Cracked Actor
Enhanced by the intimacy of the duo setting, Sebastian Field and Matthew Lustri perform delicate and sorrowful renditions from the Cracked Actor back catalogue, while still favouring ambient soundscapes and minimalist loops. After last year’s acclaimed debut album Iconoclast, Cracked Actor bring us Duo, a collection of short vignettes and acoustic treats that magnify the intimate nature of their songwriting. Paired back to just Sebastian Field and Matt Lustri for this recording (hence the title), these six tracks twist and turn with neo-classical styled arpeggios through a haunting ambiance. Recommended for fans of Low, Grouper and Kings Of Convenience.

Happy Axe
Happy Axe is the solo project of Emma Kelly (Mr Fibby, The Ellis Collective), using violin, musical saw and vocals to create layers of sound that are beautiful, unsettling and cinematic. Organic instrumental sounds are melded with digital manipulation, looping and effecting, and sounds are generated live.
