To Here From Naivety proudly presents the launch of CJ Bowerbird & the Downfall Choir’s Beyond This Blue – a day-in-the-life story told in sound and verse.

Canberra’s CJ Bowerbird is a spoken word artist and the 2012 Australian Poetry Slam Champion. CJ has just returned from the New Zealand Fringe, where he performed as part of Canberra’s Sound and Fury ensemble, which made a name for itself through its many appearances at Art Not Apart. CJ and the choir first staged a performance of this tale at the National Folk Festival 2017. It went so well they regrouped for a second performance at Smiths Alternative, before recording locally with Sam King.

The Downfall Choir is Rosie Ottley (Director), Sophie Alexander, Pippa Campbell, Lynda Carmody, Merle Czarnetzki, Alice McCarthy, Bec McPhee, Galina Prosselkova and Lisa Sampson.

Hosted by Frances McNair and including performances by G Guthrie and Sebastian Field.

Sebastian Field is making his long-awaited return to the stage after taking time off to record his latest record. Sebastian has been a mainstay of Canberra music for the last decade, as the creative force of Cracked Actor and as an accomplished solo performer. Sebastian’s rich and ethereal sound is perfectly suited to the Ainslie Main Hall.
